I actually think your idea of "starter blogs" is spot on. I found myself looking for something like this recently and I think many (most?) small business owners, and probably authors as well, don't even know what a blog is or what it can do for them. Giving them a really simple system that is easy to see and understand I think would be a no brainer. Why don't we do it ourselves?

Oh and not to be an asshole about my argument, but if you take a look at microsoft stock vs. apple you can see that microsoft stock has slowly decreased value by 50% since the launch of the ibook, ipod, and iphone ect. apple stock has blown the market away and will continue.

If you jump on the bandwagon & would have bought into the mac vision several years ago & banked money on it you would have been in early retirement by now. To anyone bashing Sachin campaign motives they can put that in their pipe and smoke it. Yes, it's really ballsy to bash other blogging platforms but why make large statements if the vision is blurry.

I am revisiting this post because I hope that people take this service posterous seriously & give it a chance.

I'm not with you on this. As of now, yes posterous seems like another wordpress, but I've found it to offer much more. The CEO used to work for apple & he's never owned a PC. About less than 10 years ago many thought that macs were a joke. Look at the company now. The ipod, itunes, changed the whole industry. Music is bought, published, & listened to differently now thanks to platforms like itunes.

In 5 years touchscreen technology is going to become mainstream. I'm willing to bet most people will own a touchscreen phone & many will start to own devices like ipads. Wordpress is a blogging platform. I see posterous as a dashboard to manage all of my social media accounts , with a blog built into it. I'm willing to be that the CEO's vision is in line with apple & will continue to follow the path of integrating tools that feed into products like iphones, ipads, ect. Do you honestly see wordpress going that route?

Just wait and keep in mind - Hi I'm a mac, this a PC commercials.

Its a commodity business -- this is what competitors do in a commoditized business. They start to eat each other.

If all there competitors are "dying platforms" that would mean that the blogging platform business is a dying industry. Why would Posterous be working so hard to get a piece of a dying market?
